I recently picked up a book that I had used as a great resource in my corporate job 15 years ago, The 80/20 Principle: The Secret of Achieving More With Less by Richard Koch. It was a helpful resource then and even more so now that I am in business for myself.

Pink Lexie GownAs you walk down the street surely you have realized the sudden flood of pink everywhere you look. Pink ribbons, pink water bottles, even dogs in pink sweaters – how can we possibly still need a month devoted to Breast Cancer Awareness? Well, until every woman and man – yes, breast cancer is a threat to men as well – are meticulously tested on an annual basis and we've found preventative measures, if not a cure, we will continue to push Pink in October.

Different Fabrics for Different ApplicationsOften,  I hear from people who think that the only acceptable fabric for post-surgical recovery is a natural fabric, primarily cotton.  Depending on the patient’s situation, other fabric choices can be  more comfortable and actually speed recovery. Identifying fabric is important. More important is the comparison of fabrics. This makes us know the true quality of a fabric by differentiating it from its substitutes.

BEAUTIFUL BOOBS!

By Karen Stranaghan They arrived in the hours before daylight; bundled, breasts concealed, heads bowed and hearts heavy.  Mexican women, all with breast cancer, and all with the hope that there might be a breast prosthetic for them. For the previous year, women in Canada and the US have been quietly raising funds, gathering used prosthetics, prosthetic bras and regular bras that other volunteers will transform into prosthetic bras.

A less known form of Lymphedema, and possibly less treated is chest and trunk swelling after breast surgery.   Ace bandages are frequently used immediately following a surgical procedure but are far from a long term solution for women suffering this condition.  Neither is it a feminine or convenient solution. However, it is that same tight hugging factor of an ace bandage, which is needed in a garment to help alleviate the discomfort of this condition.
