Although National Breast Cancer Awareness month has passed, I wanted to share some information on the
Wear Ease Dawn Camisole I was sent for review. Designed for women to wear after breast surgeries such as mastectomy and lumpectomy, the camisole is intended to be supportive, comfortable, and pretty for women immediately following these uncomfortable procedures.
Although I haven’t personally had breast surgery, I can vouch for the comfort and support provided by this product. Despite my ample breasts, the camisole is well-designed enough that I could be completely comfortable wearing it under other clothing without an additional bra. It also fit nicely, without any unseemly back bulges or shoulder-gouging (thanks to generous straps), despite the snug fit of the model I tried on. For post-operative women, the camisole come complete with detachable pouches for housing drainage tubes, and lightweight breast forms for creating the illusion of bosom. Additionally, the item is pulled over the head like a regular shirt, so no fussing with snaps or hooks is needed.
What struck me, though, is that despite the utilitarian purpose of the camisole, it’s actually quite pretty. A bit of lace at the top, soft fabric, and satin ribbon trim makes what could be boring white cotton/spandex item into something just a little bit girly, and takes away any feeling that it is a “medical” device, making it something any woman might be happy to wear. Although the pictures on the Wear Ease site don’t really do it justice, the overall effect is very sweet, while still being supportive.
Wear Ease also provides other camisoles, bras, and items for post-surgical women and women with limited mobility. Kudos to the designers for attempting to make women more comfortable.
